Join WCAS for this month’s meeting to welcome Denis Kania, who has been birding for 40 years. His passion for birds has inspired him to travel the world looking for species he has not seen before. His first international adventure was to Costa Rica in 1994. In the last 30 years Denis has visited over 30 countries on every continent except Antarctica. His favorite birds to pursue are the hummingbirds. Ten trips to Ecuador and a half dozen to Costa Rica have given him many opportunities to expand his hummingbird list. Add to that, multiple trips to Brazil, Peru, Belize, and Mexico. Rounding out the search area includes trips to Venezuela, Colombia, Guyana, Bolivia, Argentina, Jamaica, and Puerto Rico. That all adds up to a lot of hummingbirds! He’s covered a lot of ground and has a lot of stories to share.
