Looking for a rare opportunity to visit a unique habitat here in Northern Illinois? Our host and guide for this field trip will be The Conservation Foundation’s Nancy Cinatl. Emmon’s Woods is a private and designated Illinois Land and Water Reserve that has been in Nancy’s family since 1936. It boasts pristine habitat: a closed canopy perfect for Red-headed and Pileated Woodpeckers, a slough, Big Rock Creek, a witness tree, and endangered Rock Elm. Nancy will give us a tour of the property, focusing on the native plants that support birds and other wildlife in the reserve.
Please dress appropriately for the weather and terrain. Paths are mowed grass.
Registration is required for this field trip, please email WCAS Field Trip Chair Kara Morales at karamorales727@gmail.com by April 18th if you are interested in attending. Please include if you have limited mobility. Further instructions for this event will be given upon registration.
